Practice Information
Confidentiality
What we speak about in our sessions will remain strictly confidential and will not be passed on to anyone else without your consent.
The rare exception to this strict confidentiality is if you, or someone around you, is at risk of harm OR if you mention to me any criminal activity, including money laundering, child abuse and terrorism.
If I have serious concerns about your safety, such as suicide ideation, self-harm or fear of a breakdown, I may contact your GP or the emergency services. I would endeavour to include you in this referral process wherever possible.
As a counsellor and member of the BACP (The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I am required to take part in supervision. Supervision is a professional relationship that enables counsellors to discuss their counselling work. My supervisor is also a member of the BACP, and when talking with them, I will use only your first name or a pseudonym if you prefer.
I record your attendance and make brief notes about our sessions. These notes are kept following GDPR (2018) legislation and are held securely for seven years. If paper-based, any documentation I keep about you is in a locked cabinet, and if electronic, any personal data I hold is password protected. If you wish to have a copy of any information I hold about you, you may request this free of charge, and I will endeavour to provide you with a copy within 14 days.
Our work together
Each session lasts 60 minutes, and you are welcome to choose the frequency of therapy sessions most suited to your needs. Our work together is based on an open-ended contract which we will review on an ongoing basis.
For our sessions, I recommend you choose somewhere you will not be disturbed or overheard, and you are welcome to use headphones for privacy. I also ask that you do not record any of our remote sessions.
Online sessions take place via the platform, Zoom. If the internet connection is interrupted during an online session, we may arrange to continue the session via phone or re-arrange a mutually convenient alternative time.
If I cannot attend a session we have arranged, I will give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative time.
In between sessions, we may have contact to arrange cancellations or reschedule an appointment by phone, text or email. I will endeavour to respond to you as soon as possible, although this may not always be immediate.
If you do not attend a session and I do not hear from you, I will assume that you no longer wish to continue with counselling unless you make further contact.
Fees and Payment
I kindly ask that payment be made before each session and my bank details for payment are:
Sort code: 04-00-04
Account Number: 83996880
Or, if you'd prefer to pay via a payment link you can do so here.
Please note that your next session is not confirmed until payment has been received for the previous session.
Cancelling, Rescheduling, and Late Arrivals
Sessions can be cancelled or rescheduled without charge up to 24 hours before the booked time. Any cancellations or missed sessions made after this time will be charged in full.
If you have not arrived for our session five minutes after the start time I will contact you either by email or WhatsApp to check that you can log in. If I don’t hear back from you, this is a missed session and will be charged in full.
If you arrive fifteen minutes or more after the start of the session we will not be able to proceed with the session and payment will need to be made in full.
Your rights
I will adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018), a copy of which is available to you upon request.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work together, I invite you to discuss this with me. I hope that any concerns can be resolved between us, however, if this does not feel possible I encourage you to access the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure.
